Engagement with the Diocese of Oxford

Old Manor Farm, steeped in almost eight centuries of rural English history and located as it is in a quiet, yet accessible part of North Oxfordshire, provides an exceptional setting for reflection, rest and recuperation.
As such it is perfectly placed to partner with the Oxford Diocese of the Church of England in its Greenhouse Programme, which supports rural ministry and mission and helps develop rural church life through innovative, ground-breaking projects.
Similarly, Old Manor Farm Preservation Trust is perfectly placed to partner with the Oxford Diocese of the Church of England in its Nurturing Generosity programme.

LOCAL CHURCHES

Helping churches across the diocese embrace a life of Christ-like generosity

We aim to aid in changing people’s perception of giving to their local church with a renewed focus on the Kingdom of God and having a local mission. This involves also helping to look at developing the ways people give and how much they give.

DIOCESEAn WORK

Engaging with the Shelswell Group of Parishes

We are engaging the Shelswell Group of Parishes and intend to develop facilities at Old Manor Farm, which would make space available for youth and other groups facilitating engagement in the community and extending the reach of existing ministries. Ministries like Cherish, were developed, supported and affirmed by the Oxford Diocese to work with young girls and women. Cherish provides a six-week course to young women and girls who learn practical skills whilst discussing life issues including low self-esteem, depression, self-harming and eating disorders. With mental health coming to the fore in recent years, and particularly through the lockdowns of the last two years, this ministry could bring valuable benefit to the young people of this rural area extending its work in Bicester. The local parishes have a youth group currently run from a local minister’s home, this group would benefit from being able to use the facilities of Old Manor Farm. Ministers need time out away from the pressure of their ministries. Another benefit we see for the community as a whole would be in providing retreat and small training course facilities for Church of England ministers at Old Manor Farm and other partner locations (such as Parrox Hall in Lancashire, England and facilities in the village of Bredsjö, Sweden).

Support Services

There are many more things that Old Manor Farm Preservation Trust will do at or through the use of the Old Manor Farm property to facilitate Religious Harmony, including (but not limited to) providing appropriate support services for married couples of faith; Prisoners of Faith and Missionaries. Below is a list of activities where we engage and propose to engage with third parties. Reach out to us if you would like to learn how we can work with your organisation.
